Visiting Ellen in Bali

Taman Rasuna, Jakarta

Caecil and I went to visit Ellen, who is staying in Ubud, Bali for the time being. We flew to Denpasar on Saturday, 12 February, and returned to Jakarta on Wednesday, 16 February, early in the morning.

We stayed at a pleasant midrange place called Narasoma, in the heart of Ubud. It’s more costly than I am used to, the room price was Rp 385k nightly for two persons (it’s Rp 275k for one person in the same room). Normally, when I’m on my own, I rather stay in questionable rock-bottom places, and try to keep the budget at Rp 100-150k max.

While in Ubud, we generally spent the days doing as little as possible, which suits me just fine. Reading books and sitting around at cafes. On Monday afternoon, however, we rented a car and drove to Jimbaran beach to sample the seafood.

Narasoma, our place in Ubud.

Caecil and I stayed at this, now partly demolished, place back in 2003. Lod Tunduh village, south of Ubud. Only this building is still standing.

Pork ribs at Nuri’s, Ubud.

Trip to Jimbaran.
