Saturday, 19 September 2009
Jakarta, Indonesia

The Gang of Four left rainy and cold Oslo this Saturday morning at 07:30, bound for Paris, aboard a Norwegian plane. It can be noted that it is exactly two years ago since I also left Oslo.
Arrived at Orly airport at 10:00. Taxi from Orly to CDG airport.
Checked-in on our Luftwaffe flights from Paris to [...]

TE 2009 – Day 17 (Aug 28)

Friday, 18 September 2009
Jakarta, Indonesia

After saying goodbye to Siri, Atle, Theodor, and Ellen, the Gang of Four left Bogen around noon (again in Uno’s borrowed car), in rain. We had planned to stay the last night in Norway at Ellen’s residence in Oslo. The original plan was to leave for Paris the day before, but we decided to extend [...]

TE 2009 – Day 16 (Aug 27)

Friday, 18 September 2009
Jakarta, Indonesia

The Gang of Four was now comfortably installed at Gallery Bogenloftet, the building next to Siri & Atle’s residence, which is a 250-year-old wooden building. The Gallery itself was not quite as old, however.
Day 16 was a foggy and rainy day, so the Gang decided to just hang around the immediate vicinity of the residence, [...]

TE 2009 – Day 15 (Aug 26)

Friday, 18 September 2009
Jakarta, Indonesia

It was time for the Gang of Four to relocate again, and again we found ourselves comfortable in Uno’s borrowed car, before venturing eastwards. That is, after I finally was able to locate Boya’s office and deliver the keys to his residence. So we weren’t able to leave Bergen until 11:20.
We made a stop at [...]

TE 2009 – Day 14 (Aug 25)

Thursday, 17 September 2009
Jakarta, Indonesia

On Day 14, the Gang of Four was in no need of any motor powered vehicle, and we covered all distances by using our own feet (except the funicular trip). We just roamed around Bergen downtown anyway.
We visited some of the usual tourist places, such as Bryggen wharf, the fish market, a trip on Fløibanen [...]

TE 2009 – Day 13 (Aug 24)

The Gang of Four drove from the cabin at 11:30, with me as the driver. Destination today was Bergen, 350 km to the southwest. Ellen left the cabin at the same time, returning to Bogen near Sandefjord (to the southeast).
We made several stops en route, including at the 800-year-old, wooden, Borgund stave church. And crossing [...]

TE 2009 – Day 12 (Aug 23)

Tuesday, 15 September 2009
Jakarta, Indonesia

Another nice, sunny day.
We drove on the gravel road to the nearby Vinstra lake, including a stop near Stryta lake, where we found blueberry and cloudberry, which we ate on the spot. Picked some mushrooms too. Caecil and Astrid sunbathed on some rocks while I and Saras climbed a hill near Stryta lake.
After returning to [...]

TE 2009 – Day 11 (Aug 22)

Tuesday, 15 September 2009
Jakarta, Indonesia

After saying goodbye to Uno, we drove from Trondheim in sunshine at 11:15 in Uno’s car, which we had borrowed. Next stop: the cabin in Valdres, 350 km from Trondheim.
We made a quick stop to eat, and another stop at “Ridderspranget”, a small river canyon.
We reached the cabin at 18:50. Ellen had arrived around 17:30.
It [...]

TE 2009 – Day 10 (Aug 21)

Sunday, 13 September 2009

Again, Uno became the tour guide of the day for the Gang of Four, and took us out for another walk around Trondheim downtown.
We started with a visit at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology), where Uno took us around various buildings, including the Institute of Industrial Economy and Technology Management, where Uno has [...]

TE 2009 – Day 9 (Aug 20)

Sunday, 13 September 2009
Jakarta, Indonesia

The Gang of Four bade farewell to Ellen and took the subway to Oslo central railway station at 06:57, and afterwards a train to Trondheim; departure 08:07 and arrival 14:48. An excellent train (one of the best I have seen), which was exactly on schedule too. We had paid 289 NOK each for the tickets [...]

TE 2009 – Day 8 (Aug 19)

Saturday, 12 September 2009
Jakarta, Indonesia

After breakfast we bought day tickets on the public transportation for 65 NOK each and took the subway to Oslo downtown. I needed another social visit visa for Indonesia, so we walked to the Indonesian embassy first. It took only 10 minutes to get the visa, which costs 270 NOK.
Thereafter we climbed (or walked) on [...]

TE 2009 – Day 7 (Aug 18)

Thursday, 10 September 2009
Jakarta, Indonesia

Not much time in the morning for anything; we just bought some pastry for breakfast at a nearby bakery before taking a pre-booked taxi to the airport around 11:00. We catched the 12:45 Norwegian flight to Oslo (NOK 705) after checking in with the unfriendly airport staff.
Ellen picked us up at Gardermoen airport north of [...]
