Weekend trip to Bali
Wednesday, 8 June 2011Grand Indonesia, Jakarta
Last Thursday, 2 June, we made a quick weekend trip to Bali, or more specifically the town of Ubud. Ubud is still a pleasant place, although it is resembling Kuta beach more and more (Kuta can also be pleasant, but in a different way). The taxi drivers now on every street corner in Ubud is annoying.
On Sunday 5 June we returned to Jakarta again.
In Ubud, we stayed at a nice place called In Da Lodge, which cost Rp 350k per room per night, which of course is much more than my ordinary rock-bottom budget (that is, when I’m traveling alone and for a longer time). No aircon, but it was quite chilly during night, so I had to turn off the fan. The owner is Dutch. I fixed a simple computer problem for him, which was rewarded with a free beer.
We also rented a small car, costing Rp 450k for the whole period (it’s Rp 150k per 24 hours). The car was arranged from Jakarta, and we simply picked it up and delivered it back at the airport. Taking a taxi back and forth would cost about the same anyway.
