This water pump, which pumps water from the water tank and to the water pipes, is broken and needs to be changed. This is just one of many details in the renovation project.

The other pump, not pictured here, which pumps water from the 30 m deep well and to the water tank, is fine.

Buying marble

Thursday, 16 August 2012
Taman Rasuna, Jakarta

The last two days have been spent hand picking marble slabs and tiles from a warehouse in Cipondoh, Tangerang, to be used in our renovation project.

Here is a summary of what was picked.

– 33 slabs of “Balocci Ujung Pandang”, each measuring about 1.8 x 1.8 meters. To be used at first floor.
– 250 tiles of “Tuscany Ujung Pandang”, 60 x 60 cm each. To be used at second floor.
– 200 tiles of “Tuscany Ujung Pandang”, 60 x 30 cm each. To be used in the bathrooms.
– 10 pieces of “Nero Portoro”, allegedly from Myanmar, about 60 x 180 cm each. To be used as a border.

Total price ended at Rp 84 million.

At a density of around 2500 kg per cubic meter, a slab/tile thickness of 2 cm, and a total area of 243 square meters, this translates to around 12 tons of marble stone!
