I renewed my driving licences yesterday (class A and C), for another year, in Daan Mogot, West Jakarta.
It was an easy process and took only one hour and ten minutes. Total cost Rp 195,000 for those two licences.
The process consists of eye test, fee payment, form filling, and photo and fingerprint taking. All that was needed were my old licences, passport and residence permit.
On Friday 13th January, the first trip of 2012 was made as we flew from Jakarta to Denpasar on Garuda Citilink (seat number 13E and 13F) to attend a wedding in Uluwatu on Saturday.
The usual arrangements to rent a car from our contact in Bali was made. Rp 150k per 24 hour period.
We chose to stay at a place called Narasoma, in Ubud centre. Rp 385k per night. It’s a pleasant place. The staff still remember Ellen from a year ago.
We flew back to the big durian on Monday. Jakarta is sometimes called the big durian, the smelly fruit.

I am writing this to mark the end of 2011, which has been a relatively uneventful year for me.
In 2012 I am hoping to obtain status as Permanent Resident of Indonesia.

Update: View from the apartment at 15:12 on 31 December. We went down to eat at an Indian food stall there.
It took several months until I was able to do one pull-up, but it took only 6 days to advance from one to two consecutive pull-ups, and even three, which I did today.
