Where is Rune?

For the curious, here’s the detailed flight itinerary which is now fixed:

Depart Oslo, Norway 1 September 23:40, arrive Istanbul, Turkey 2 Sep 04:25. Airline: Norwegian Air Shuttle. Price: NOK 379 (USD 65). Rune will spend the day in Istanbul.

And then, depart Istanbul 03 Sep 02:00, arrive Sharjah, United Arab Emirates 07:00. Rune has the whole day to explore that city before the final flight takes him to Colombo, Sri Lanka at 21:45. Arrive in Colombo 4 Sep 03:15. This trip is sold as one ticket, at the tune of AED 730 (USD 200). The airline is Air Arabia.

So total cost getting from Oslo to Colombo is 265 bucks! Not bad. In other words it is about 22 and a half dollar per hour flown, or 3 cents per kilometer! :-)

And how long is Rune going to stay in Sri Lanka? It depends! ;-) Max. permitted stay is only one month anyway. India will then be the next destination…

Today Rune went to his regular doctor, giving him some useful shots for the trip.

And here is the price breakdown:

That’s NOK 945.90! Or USD 164. Not to mention the doctor’s fee, which was 2 x 160 = NOK 320 (had to visit him twice, first time to get the prescriptions, second time to do the injections).

This website was created yesterday, so all posts dated before 16 July 2007 are actually entered after this date.

But what’s next? Here’s the plan: On 1 September, fly from Oslo to Istanbul. Spend one day in Istanbul, then fly to Sharjah, U.A.E. Spend one day there, then fly to Colombo, Sri Lanka. Travel around that country for a couple of weeks before jumping to southern India. That’s the itinerary so far! :-)
