Giallo California

Today I visited an enormous warehouse off an anonymous gravel road in Cipondoh, Tangerang, just west of Jakarta.

There was an amazing variety of marble and granite slabs from all over the world, and perhaps the most impressive of all was the section dedicated to Brazilian granite. I selected two slabs of Giallo California, which is a granite from a quarry in Dores de Guanhães, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It will be used for the kitchen tabletop. Each of the 5 square meters slabs weigh around 250 kg. I was quoted Rp 1,350,000 per square meter. The more colorful stones pictured below was several times more expensive than that and out of my budget.

Marble and granite warehouse.

“Giallo California” slab, around 3 x 1.7 meter.

Slab already picked and marked.

“Nacarado” granite, Brazil.

Another granite from Brazil.
