Visit by Uno & Mette, day 12

Taman Rasuna, Jakarta

6 October.

Return to Jakarta. We got a panic attack today when we learned that the airport has moved to the other side of Lombok, since 1 October. We learned this just as we were about to check-out from the hotel, and suddenly the time was against us. But for a relatively high price (Rp 1 million), we managed to get ourselves transported in time. The sea across to mainland Lombok was very rough, which was a bit scary in the small speed boat. A waiting car was ready on the other side.

The new airport was apparently Lombok’s biggest attraction, judging from the many onlookers crowding outside the fences.

But before any of this happened, I snorkeled for the last time, and was rewarded with a sight of a shark, estimated size 1.5 meter.

People flocking to see the new airport.

Speed boat and car from Gili Trawangan to Lombok airport. The old airport is about half-way on this track.

3 October.

Somebody has to work, so Caecil and Tabita returned to Jakarta today. Uno, Mette, and I continued to Gili Trawangan, Lombok. We were picked up at the hotel in the morning, and arrived with fast boat at Trawangan a few hours later.

Uno and Mette are staying at Villa Grasia, while I chose to stay at the more economical Karma Kayak, 250 meter away.

Gili Trawangan, Lombok.

Bus and boat from Ubud to Gili Trawangan.

2 October.

More walking, and this time we concentrated on downtown Ubud. Lunch at Ibu Oka. Dinner at Casaluna, where there was live music.

Proud owners of a new pig, which supposedly is from East Java. It was bought at the shop next to Casaluna.
